A Certain Scientific DODGEBALL


Hey all! It's been a while, and I realised that's because we haven't posted anything new. Well, we haven't forgotten about this project.

Scoreboard

Going off of feedback on our last release, we added a scoreboard. There's not much explanation needed there. It keeps track of score on-screen. Moving forward, we will be adding more visual indicators that were asked for (such as portal cooldown timers and ball ownership colours).

Abilities

The bigger update though is that we added abilities! Whether you want to think of them as superpowers, mutations, magic, or esper powers is up to you. We have added three that you can test (final ability functionality subject to change):

  1. Invisibility - Turn invisible for 1 second. You cannot throw a ball while invisible. 5 second cooldown.
  2. Rewind - Set a warp point on press. After 2 seconds, you will teleport back to the waypoint, maintaining your current velocity vector. 5 second cooldown.
  3. Blink - Instantly move 300 pixels horizontally in the direction you facing. 1.5 second cooldown.

For now, you must select your ability before hosting or joining a server in online multiplayer. For local multiplayer, just select it before you hit "Start". You can activate your ability as player one by pressing Q. You can activate your ability as player two by pressing SHIFT.

Also, on a more technical note, we have also updated some of the net code. There is still a significant lag issue we have to fix before it is ready for release, but it is now organised in a much better way. This should help with future updates.
